TECHBARRIER
Durability against Boiling, Retort

    TECHBARRIER-T, TECHBARRIER-TZ and TECHBARRIER-NR are recommendable when boiling or retort treatment is necessary. TECHBARRIER-H is availbale for boiling, but we recommend preliminary checking because the durability would be effected by lamination structure, equipment and treatment. TECHBARRIER-V is available for hot filling but not for boiling nor retort. Table 1 shows the property of each type. You can see also visual "Layer Structre Recommendation" in figure 1.
1) Adhesive.
    Urethane adhesive (polyester system) is recommendable. You can find some information in a page of "Adhesive Information".

2) Air-gap in a pouch.
    If air remains in a bag during boiling or retorting, the film will be inflated then its barrier property will be deteriorated. Air in a bag must be excluded.

3) TECHBARRIER-T
  1. Up to 120 retort sterilization is possible. Recommendable structures are as follows.
  2. OPET(printing) / (SiOx) TECHBARRIER-T / CPP
  3. TECHBARRIER-T (SiOx) / CPP (See Table-2)
  4. OPA film must NOT be laminated directly on SiOx surface, If the film is boiling or retorting treated. Because SiOx layer is deteriorated by OPA hydroscopic swelling. This phenomenon can be occurred as well as with the other water absorb-like film.

4) TECHBARRIER-TZ
  1. TECHBARRIER-TZ is SiOx vacuum coated bi-axially oriented polyester film. TECHBARRIER-TZ is retort / boiling / hot-filling durable, transparent and super high gas barrier film. The advantages against our TECHBARRIER-T, which has been already on market, are as follows.
      a) Clarity (less yellowness)
      b) Price (less expensive).
      c) Both 2-ply and 3-ply structures are available.
  2. Recommendable layer structure
    • TZ / Primer / Print / Adh / OPA / Adh / CPP)
    • TZ / Primer / print / Adh / CPP
    • TZ / Adh / print / OPA / Adh / CPP
    • TZ / Adh / OPA / print / Adh / CPP
  3. Some technical notes.
    SiOx surface must not be exposed (must sandwiched with the other layer. Direct printing on SiOx layer is possible. We, however, recommend primer coating if white ink printing is necessary in order to avoid gas barrier deterioration. OPA, CPP, adhesive and inks should be retort appropriate type.

5) TECHBARRIER-NR
  1. Up to 120 retort sterilization, when it is laminated with OPET, is possible. It must be always three(four)-ply-structure like,
  2. OPET(printing) / (SiOx) TECHBARRIER-NR /CPP
  3. OPET(printing) / (SiOx) TECHBARRIER-NR / OPA / CPP

6) TECHBARRIER-H
  1. Up to 90 boiling is possible.
  2. It is possible to be laminated with OPA film.
  3. TECHBARRIER-H (SiOx) (printing) / Sealant
  4. TECHBARRIER-H (SiOx) (printing) / OPA / Sealant

7) TECHBARRIER-V
  1. Hot filling is possible.
  2. TECHBARRIER-V (SiOx) (printing) / Sealant
  3. TECHBARRIER-V (SiOx) (printing) / OPA / Sealant
