1, How to handle ? |
|
| 1) |
Handle a roll of TECHBARRIER as if it is a roll of aluminum foil. |
| 2) |
A roll of TECHBARRIER is wrapped with moisture protection film. Especially, TECHBARRIER -S, TECHBARRIER -NR and TECHBARRIER -NY absorb humidity easily due to the property of their base films. Dismantle the wrapping film just before converting. If restore is necessary, wrap again appropriately. |
| 3) |
Scratching SiOx layer deteriorates barrier property dramatically. Be careful in the process of laminating, printing and so on. |
| 4) |
SiOx layer of TECHBARRIER has certain durability against folding and stretching. No deterioration of gas barrier property up to 1-% elongating or R1 mm folding according to our test results. But heavy wrinkle has a possibility to destroy SiOx layer. |
|
|
2, How to laminate ? |
|
| 1) |
Same lamination condition as OPET in case of TECHBARRIER -V, P2, H, TZ and T because these four types have OPET as base films. While TECHBARRIER -S has OPVA (Polyvinylalcohol) base film so that lamination condition can be same as OPVA. Generally OPVA is so stiff that process tension should be 1.5 through 2 times more than OPET, or 3 times more than OPP. For instance, 15 through 20-kg tensions are necessary in case of 1000mm width. TECHBARRIER -NY and NR are based on ONY. Process tensions must be below 10 kg/m. |
| 2) |
Adhesion and extrusion laminations are available. |
| 3) |
Adhesion lamination |
| |
a) |
Recommendable adhesive is dual liquid urethane type, especially polyester system. Bond strength depends on sort of adhesive and conditions of lamination. Preliminary test would be recommendable. |
| |
b) |
There is little difference of lamination results among the types of TECHBARRIER . |
| |
c) |
Gas barrier property of TECHBARRIER is so high that it happens to encounter a bubble problem after lamination because of remaining solvent, gas incorporation or carbon dioxide generated during aging process. There is no problem with the lamination with PE, OPP, CPP, OPET or ONY that doesn't have high gas barrierability but the lamination between two TECHBARRIER s, or TECHBARRIER and aluminum foil would cause the above quality problems. |
| |
d) |
In order to prevent the problem, we recommend 1 through 3 day-aging under room temperature before regular process like 40 . |
| 4) |
Extrusion lamination |
|
|
3, How to print ? |
|
| 1) |
SiOx layer of TECHBARRIER has good wettability. |
| 2) |
White ink including TiO2 happens to deteriorate gas barrier property. |
| 3) |
Boiling or retorting would deteriorate the bond strength of ink against SiOx layer. |
| 4) |
Primer Treatment would improve barrier property when having the above problems. |
|
|
4, Which is SiOx surface ? |
|
| 1) |
Be convinced with the label on rolls. |
| 2) |
Water dropping on surfaces. SiOx surface will apparently show better wettability. |
| 3) |
TECHBARRIER -V, H, P2, TZ and T have small curl as a piece of film; the mountaintop is SiOx surface. |
